I tried three different styles of Hoka before I found this one that actually felt OK and thought I could work thru the initial discomfort. I am a 2 months in and doing about 15 miles a week of walking on hard surfaces with these shoes.
Hoka Clifton 9: The Details. The signature component of Hoka’s Clifton 9 ’s is the use of the brand’s trademarked meta-rocker platform. Positioned in the midsole, the meta-rocker acts to “roll” the runner from one stride to the next, in a smooth, propelled motion. The Clifton 9 also features a bouncy stack of 36.7mm foam with a 5mm drop.

The Clifton L Suede is a great version of the nylon mesh Hoka Clifton. I wear the Cliftons from spring to fall, but I wanted to get something that was warmer for the winter. This version is perfect for the cooler weather. I think it would be too warm for hot weather. It is a little bit heavier than a mesh Clifton, but that is to be expected as

Yet there remains a vocal group of people still skeptical of the world-famous full-length EVA foam midsole. With the Clifton 7, the people at HOKA ONE ONE make no compromises. I am a busy RN on a telemetry ward and work 12 hour shifts, walking an average of 4-5 miles/shift (per my Fitbit). These shoes are a blessing and were not even on my radar until suggested by my new podiatrist.
For running enthusiasts, the annual Hoka One One Clifton release is widely anticipated as maximum comfort shoe-seeking athletes compare subtle changes from the prior year Clifton.
